Situations are events that take place gradually and are trackable via the Outliner and the Situation Log. Most situations offer multiple approaches to tackle them, and most of the time an approach can be changed at any point. They also spawn a fleet of >1 million fleet power. Defeat it and start landing troops on their planets they spawn several more fleets of comparable or greater power. I tried syncronized landings, but some of their planets had question marks like I didn't know who the owner was. Neutron sweep worked though.

I believe after wiping out the Dessanu their planets crumble into runied nanite worlds which has a chance to let you harvest nanites. They're also terraforming candidates and if you terraform them and colonize them the nanites are lost. I think organic empires can terraform machine worlds. So you want to de-Gaiafy a planet, hand it over to robots with the proper ascendancy traits and wait, then take it back and terraform again....
