Claymore can go Crushing and Blessed but flamberge cant. Flamberge can go Sharp and Crescent but Claymore cant. The damage from a Sharp Flamberge is mediocre when compared to that of a Crushing Claymore, massive difference when 2h and cursed. The Flamberge in Demon's Souls is more historically accurate. They were very similar to Zweihanders, which literally means two handed sword. The only difference was the wavy flame like shape of the blade, though it was mostly decorative. I consider it a good strength weapon, i used it for most of my playthrough and was quite good, but in the late game i changed it for the Meat Cleaver and in NG+ i used the northen regalia but that said the claymore is good for most of the areas so for me it is a good weapon. . Meijer
