In Breath of the Wild most of the divine beasts were named after sages from Ocarina of Time, TOTK's past happened before the creation of the Divine Beasts and surprise, surprise, the design of the divine beasts seem to be inspired by the design of TOTK's sages armors, which probably means that the Divine Beats are named after them, Vah Ruta ...TOTK is just uncomfortably similar to BOTW in every way.
